I liked the video. I thought that if Tom stepped down as Co-CEO, and just went about his business/area. Then I think the company would've succeeded. Khaliel knew what he wanted to do, but Tom always stuck his nose into to what Khliael was saying. Since I cant' spell it, The guy whose name starts with K, was passionate about his job and the product/service that he was trying to sell into investors. Tom was kind of clueless on how to talk to the investors. I think the "K" man was a little rough on Tom, but he had to get his point across. I think that their idea was good but the way they implemented it could've been done better. They still had a lot of problems when they went live. I think the should've just had a webpage, thats said GovWorks coming soon, until all the bugs were worked out.
The K man left a great job to join the GovWorks crew. I think that he did the right thing, but there were too many indians and not enough chiefs in this organization. The communication was not as well as it should be. They all had different views, but never really talked to each other. I think that letting Tom go was a bad idea. He was good for he company and was positive, but he needed to realize, that he wasn't a CEO. He was still a partner and everything, but He was too stubborn to relinquish power.
I think this was a great learning tool. I want to start a business and i learned some things to do and not to do. My friends and I are starting a business for their band, kind of like the Grateful Dead and Phish. They both had corporations and both still make tons of money. This video made me understand, that you can't have power struggles and communication is very key.
I think they relationship between the "K" man and Tom is strained, hopefully they can remain good friends, but I am not sure it will happen. I know ow to seperate business from personal. It is a hard thing to do.
I realize how hard it is to "beg" for money. Khalil was great at expressing what the business does. He was good at getting money from the investors and talking to them. Tom made it hard for the investors to believe that the company had their stuff together. Tom would pipe up about stuff that the company wasn't even close to doing yet, but could eventually. I think that Tom hurt the company. GovWorks could've got more money if Tom stayed at the office. I also thing it was a good and bad move to let the "competition" into the office. They ended up launching before GovWorks, which hurt their thunder.
Overall I think this movie was great, thanks for showing it. I would like to see the followup to it.
